The trailer sets the stage for a gripping narrative, starting with a police car arriving at a suburban house. We witness an injured woman urgently informing her partner about something “insane” yet “true” that affects everyone on Earth. The scene then shifts to a radar control room in 1977, where radio astronomers detected a message known as the “WOW signal.” The tension builds as a young radio operator presses a mysterious red button, potentially altering the course of humanity.

The night sky flickers and is eventually blocked out entirely by an unknown object looming on the horizon. Liam Cunningham’s character poses the question of what the WOW signal was trying to convey, to which Rosalind Chao’s character Ye Wenjie chillingly responds, “they are coming.” The identity of these enigmatic beings becomes a central focus of the first season of 3 Body Problem.

The remainder of the trailer offers glimpses of a virtual reality device and a hovering countdown, hinting at the technological wonders and impending chaos that await. Humanity appears to descend into a state of turmoil, on the brink of war with an unknown adversary. In a pivotal moment, Ye Wenjie asks Jin Cheng, played by Jess Hong, how he wishes to be remembered. His response, “as someone who fought back,” speaks to the resilience and determination of the characters in the face of an unprecedented threat.

3 Body Problem marks the latest project from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, who have proven their storytelling prowess with Game of Thrones. The series explores humanity’s first encounter with an alien civilization and delves into the profound societal implications that such an event would have on our species.

With its captivating storyline and high production value, 3 Body Problem is poised to become a must-watch for science fiction enthusiasts. As the trailer suggests, viewers should prepare themselves for a thrilling and thought-provoking journey when the series premieres on March 21st.
